We built Find Your North because we love Upstate New York. There is so much happening here, but too often you only hear about it after it is over.
A school game. A church supper. Live music. A benefit. A farmers market. A festival. Something for the kids. A community tradition. Something completely new.
If it is happening here and people should know about it, we want it on Find Your North.
That is why posting is free. Not free for a few months. Not free until we grow.

Nobody buys their way to the top
A small fundraiser organized by a handful of neighbors deserves the same place on the calendar as an event from the largest organization in Upstate New York.
We want people to discover what is happening here based on what they are looking for, not based on who paid the most to get in front of them.
Paying will never decide what gets seen. We do not sell ads and we do not sell placement.
Built for Upstate New York
Find Your North is about more than filling a calendar. We want to make it easier to experience the place we call home. To find something to do this weekend. To discover a restaurant you have never tried. To take the kids somewhere new. To stumble across an event in the next town over. To support a fundraiser you never would have known about.
And that only works if Upstate New York is part of building it. Every event someone adds makes Find Your North more useful. Every organization that keeps its information current helps somebody find something they otherwise might have missed.
We can build the place. The community is what makes it worth coming to.
Local food & specials
Not everything worth discovering has to be an event. Maybe your favorite restaurant has a Friday fish fry. Maybe a café just created a new drink. Maybe there is a sandwich of the week, wing night, a new ice cream flavor, or something you can only get for a few days.
Restaurants, cafés, bakeries, food trucks and ice cream shops can add their specials to Find Your North for free. Tell us what it is and when it runs, and people looking for something to do that day find it right alongside everything else happening around them.
Free listings carry artwork for their category. If you want a photo of your own food on the listing, that comes with contributing — photos are the part that costs us money to host.
Because sometimes discovering Upstate New York means finding an event. And sometimes it means finding your new favorite sandwich.
Local Community Contributor
We wanted a way for the people and businesses who believe in Find Your North to be part of what we are building. That is what a Local Community Contributor is.
For $12 or more, you support the continued growth of Find Your North and receive a Contributor badge on your listings, along with the features that genuinely cost us money — your own photos, and the flyer reader that fills the form for you.
But contributing does not buy attention. It does not move your event higher. It does not make your listing more important. And it never takes anything away from someone who chooses not to contribute.

This only works if we do it together
Find Your North may be our idea, but we do not want it to feel like our website. We want it to feel like Upstate New York’s.
Add the little event. Tell us about the fundraiser. Post the special. Share the thing happening in your town that everyone should know about. Tell your friends about the site. Help us find what we missed.
We genuinely love this place. Find Your North is our attempt to celebrate more of it, connect more of it, and make sure fewer of the things that make Upstate New York special go unnoticed.

If you can’t contribute
Then don’t. Post your events anyway. A calendar that only listed the people who could afford it would be useless to Upstate New York, and it would not be worth running.
