About Find Your North

There is more happening here than most of us ever hear about

Find Your North was built to make Upstate New York easier to explore.

Every day, there are school events, live music, festivals, markets, sports, library programs, community meetings, fundraisers, local traditions, and things happening right down the road that are easy to miss.

We wanted one place where you could simply open the calendar and see what is happening. Find Your North brings together events from across Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Oswego, Franklin, Clinton, Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga and Oneida counties and puts them into one calendar built around the way people actually make plans.

Pick a date. See what is happening. Find something worth going to.

How it works

Find Your North gathers events from public calendars published by schools, towns, libraries, community organizations and other local sources across the region. Those calendars are checked regularly and new events are added automatically. Whenever possible, listings link back to the original source so you can see where the information came from.

And if something is missing, anyone can add it.

Keep using the calendar you already have

You should not need another app just to remember what you found. Events here can be added straight to the calendar you already use on your phone, tablet or computer. Add one event. Add every date of a recurring event. Or subscribe to a live calendar built around what you care about — specific counties, categories or keywords. When the calendar changes, your subscribed calendar changes with it.

Make Find Your North yours

Not everybody is looking for the same thing. Filter events by category. Follow organizers you care about. Hide the ones you do not. Save personal picks and build a calendar around the things you actually want to do.

The goal is not to show you more. It is to help you find what matters to you.

Posting is free

And it stays free. Anyone can post an event on Find Your North without paying us. There is no trial period and there is no fee required to be included.

We also do not sell ads or paid placement. A small community fundraiser gets the same place on the calendar as an event from the largest organization in the region. Nobody can pay to move above someone else.

We believe people should discover what is happening based on what interests them, not based on who spent the most money getting their attention.

Local Community Contributors

Find Your North is built for this community, and we want the community to have a way to be part of its growth. Anyone who wants to support what we are building can become a Local Community Contributor with a contribution of $12 or more.

Contributors receive a badge on their listings and access to the features that cost more for us to provide — listing photos and our flyer reader.

Contributing never changes where your event appears. It simply means you chose to support something being built for Upstate New York. Details live in the Terms of Service.

We live here. We know how easy it is to miss something happening twenty minutes away simply because you never saw the flyer, post or calendar where it was announced. Find Your North is our attempt to change that — one place to discover more of the communities, organizations, businesses, traditions and people that make Upstate New York what it is.

And the more our communities participate, the better it becomes for everyone.
